Ashland Kiwanis Charitable Foundation, Inc.
The Ashland Kiwanis Charitable Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a companion organization to, but a separate legal entity from, the Kiwanis Club of Ashland, VA. Established on July 9, 1996, the Foundation was created to complement the charitable interests of the Ashland Kiwanis Club and its members. The Foundation exists to provide financial assistance to programs and projects that enrich the life of our community, particularly of its youth
Today, the Foundation focuses on the financial support aspects of two Ashland Kiwanis programs: the Ashland Kiwanis Key Club, R-MC CKI and Hanover Center for Trades and Technology Scholarship Programs, and the elementary school Perfect Attendance Program. The Scholarship Programs provide annual or four-year assistance for qualified, selected students. The Perfect Attendance Program reinforces student attendance at six area elementary schools with recognition awards and the opportunity for those students with perfect attendance to enter a drawing for a new bicycle.
Additionally, the Foundation currently provides ongoing financial support for Wings of Hope, Patrick Henry YMCA Bright Beginnings and Summer Camp programs, and the Happy Reading Program.
Membership in the Foundation is limited to and consists of active members of the Kiwanis Club of Ashland, Virginia. However, the Foundation has a separate organization of officers and directors.
Donations
Funding for the Foundation comes from contributions of Ashland Kiwanians as well as from businesses and individuals who also support the work of the Club and of the Club’s Foundation. Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible under section 170(b)(1)(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Consideration of grant requests is done annually with the Board acting on submissions received by the end of the first quarter of that year year.
